IB Diploma Requirements
Section A: V Conditions for the Award of the IB Diploma
Article 11: Grades
Performance in each of the six IB diploma subjects is graded on a scale of 1point (minimum) to 7 points (maximum). A maximum of 3 points is awarded for combined performance in theory of knowledge and the extended essay. The maximum total Diploma Programme point score is therefore 45.
- Extended Essay : 4,000 word essay
- 150 hours of Creativity, Action, and Service
- The Theory of Knowledge Class (12th grade)
Article 12: Award of the diploma
12.2 The Diploma will be awarded to a candidate whose total score is 24, 25, 26 or 27 points, provided all the following requirements have been met:
- numeric grades have been awarded in all six subjects registered for the diploma
- l an approved programme of CAS has been completed
- l grades A (highest) to E (lowest) have been awarded for both theory of knowledge and an extended essay, with a grade of at least D in one of them
- l there is no grade 1 in any subject
- l there is no grade 2 at higher level
- l there is no more than one grade 2 at standard level
- l overall, there is no more than three grades 3 or below
- l at least 12 points have been gained on higher level subjects (candidates who register for four higher level subjects must gain at least 16 points at higher level)
- l at least 9 points have been gained on standard level subjects (candidates who register for two standard level subjects must gain at least 6 points at standard level)
- l the final award committee has not judged the candidate to be guilty of malpractice
12.3 The IB diploma will be awarded to a candidate whose total score is 28 points or above, provided all the following requirements have been met:
- numeric grades have been awarded in all six subjects registered for the diploma
- l an approved programme of CAS has been completed
- l grades A to E have been awarded for both theory of knowledge and an extended essay, with a grade of at least D in one of them
- l there is no grade 1 in any subject
- l there is no more than one grade 2 at higher level
- l there is no more than two grades 2 at standard level
- l overall, there is no more than three grades 3 or below
- l at least 11 points have been gained on higher level subjects (candidates who register for four higher level subjects must gain at least 14 points at higher level)
- l at least 8 points have been gained on standard level subjects (candidates who register for two standard level subjects must gain at least 5 points at standard level)
- l the final award committee has not judged the candidate to be guilty of malpractice

| 9th Grade | The student who has less than an unweighted 2.75 GPA each semester . | The student who has less than a 2.75 unweighted semester average will be placed on probation.
The student who has less than an unweighted GPA of 2.5 will be removed from the program at the end of the 9th grade year. |
| 10th Grade | The student must have an unweighted 2.75 GPA each semester.

The student who has less than a 2.75 unweighted GPA will be removed from the program at the end of the sophomore year. |
Note: (Entrance in IB) at the end of the student's 10th grade year (Pre-IB), the student must be recommended for three HL course of studies by three Pre-IB/IB teachers to continue in the IB program. |

| 11th & 12th Grade | Each semester the student must have an unweighted 2.75 unweighted GPA, no more than one D and no F's . | The student may be requested to leave the program. Any student with more than one D and/or any F's at the end of the junior year will be removed from the program. |
The student must also complete; |

| Extended Essay | The student will submit finished copies of the Extended Essay on the first day of classes senior year. | The student will be removed from the program. The student must then take those necessary actions to meet all graduation requirements. |
| CAS | The student will complete CAS hours by March of his/her senior year. | The student will be removed from the program and may fail to meet his/her high school graduation requirements. |
